Federal Small Pistol Magnum Primers #200 Box of 1000 (10 Trays of 100)

For over 20 years, I’ve been using federal small pistol primers in 38 special for my 2.7-3.0g target loads of red dot, bullseye, wst, and so on. This was due to the fact that I was also loading 357 mag loads and did not want to deal with two different primers. When shooting double action, my Python did not always set off other brands of primers, which is why I switched to federal small pistol primers in the first place. Back in the dawn of the internet. Some people recommend using a mag primer to drop back a couple or a few tenths of a grain of powder. I’m not sure because I never use regular.38 primers.

For competition loads in 9mm and 38 mid, I prefer the federal 200 primers in stock now for sale.

When I chronograph them against FSP primers, I consistently get smaller ES and lower SD.

Surprisingly, the maximum velocity is either the same or slightly lower.

These are NOT maximum or even close to maximum loads.

Is there any reason why magnum primers should not be used with reduced.38 Special or reduced.357 loads?
